1. We believe that investors make systematic mistakes chasing the next growth story. This creates a persistent behavioural bias and investment opportunities. | 2. We seek to exploit these opportunities by focusing on quality companies with attractive valuations and lower risk via our “4P” framework. | 3. A robust quantitative approach provides breadth in analysis and ensures more objective and efficient portfolio construction. |
How do we invest?
The strategy combines the outputs of a proprietary “4P” framework with an ESG scoring that has been developed and refined over the last 20 years.
The “4P” framework evaluates the exposure of each company within the universe to four factors we have identified as the key determinants of long-term active returns: Profitability, Prudence, Price and Protection.
The Quest team validates the outputs of the scoring and considers additional material information that cannot be captured in a quantitative way.
- This allows us to mitigate the negative effects resulting from the implementation of a quantitative approach, whether it be averaging effects, backward-looking or false positive and negative signals.
- It also increases the depth of our analysis and the strength of our conviction, which lead to a more concentrated portfolio with higher active shares than many other quant approaches.
